The Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) is an annual mathematics competition that promotes mathematical knowledge and develops problem-solving skills among students. The contest is open to primary and secondary school students from various countries.

The language medium is English only. The Examination is being conducted for all classes from I to XII with the following details, it is recommended that you visit the official HKIMO website or contact your country's local organizing committee, as the specifics might change from year to year.
HKIMO welcomes participation from students in primary and secondary schools. The competition is divided into the following categories based on the students' grade level:- Primary 1-2 (Grade 1-2)- Primary 3-4 (Grade 3-4)- Primary 5-6 (Grade 5-6)- Secondary 1-2 (Grade 7-8)- Secondary 3-4 (Grade 9-10)- Secondary 5-6 (Grade 11-12)
The competition covers topics in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. The questions are designed to challenge students' problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and mathematical abilities.
The HKIMO consists of a written test with 15 questions for each category, divided into three sections: A, B, and C. Section A contains 8 multiple-choice questions, Section B contains 4 multiple-choice questions, and Section C contains 3 open-ended questions. Each section's questions carry different weightings, with Section A questions worth 5 points each, Section B questions worth 10 points each, and Section C questions worth 20 points each. The total score is 100 points.
