The Unified International English Olympiad (UIEO) is a prestigious exam that helps students sharpen their English language skills. The UIEO is open to students from Classes 1 to 10 across various educational boards, including CBSE, ICSE, ISC, and state boards.
● Offline Exam Dates: 06-Nov-2024 (Wednesday) & 22-Nov-2024 (Friday) (For School Registrations) ● Online Exam Date: 12-Jan-2025 (Sunday) (For Individual Registrations)
● Class 1 to 4 → 35 Questions | 35 Marks ● Class 5 to 10 → 50 Questions | 50 Marks ● Duration: 1 hour
The exam consists of objective-type questions with no negative marking. It is structured into three major sections:
1. Vocabulary & Functional Grammar 2. Reading Comprehension 3. Interactive English
Division of Marks
● Words: Singular & plural forms, pronunciation rules. ● Genders: Identification and classification. ● Nouns: Common, Proper, Abstract, Collective, Countable/Uncountable. ● Spellings: Jumbled and unusual words. ● Basic Grammar: Articles, Numbers, Synonyms & Antonyms, One-word substitutions. ● Verbs: Basic tenses, subject-verb agreement, forming simple sentences. ● Reading Comprehension: Story understanding, conclusions, morals, specific details. ● Interactive English: Day-to-day conversations, greeting, thanking, requesting, apologies.
● Vocabulary & Functional Grammar: Vowels and consonants, action-related words, shapes, functions, singular/plural forms, synonyms & antonyms, simple tenses, punctuation. ● Reading Comprehension: Contextual meaning, main themes, specific information. ● Interactive English: Spoken and telephonic conversations, introducing self, making requests.
● Grammar & Vocabulary: Alphabetical order, pronunciation, articles, rhyming words, analogy, parts of speech, auxiliary & modal verbs. ● Reading Comprehension: Dialogues, information gathering, moral understanding. ● Interactive English: Polite conversation, greetings, pleasantries.
● Grammar & Vocabulary: Pronunciation through syllables, homophones, collocations, phrasal verbs, idioms. ● Reading Comprehension: Understanding phrases, moral perception. ● Interactive English: Formal conversation etiquette, telephone etiquette.
● Grammar & Vocabulary: Determiners, quantifiers, active/passive voice, subject-verb agreement. ● Reading Comprehension: In-depth contextual analysis, understanding auxiliary verbs.● Interactive English: Telephonic conversations, giving and receiving information.
● Grammar & Vocabulary: Subject-verb agreement, sentence structures, active/passive voice, idioms, one-word substitutions. ● Reading Comprehension: Contextual meaning, perception of phrases and moral. ● Interactive English: Warning, giving advice, seeking permission, argument handling.
● Grammar & Vocabulary: Clauses, transitive/intransitive verbs, fact vs. opinion, question tags.● Reading Comprehension: Analyzing diary entries, advertisements, perceptionof moral. ● Interactive English: Expressing opinions, seeking permission, polite disagreements.
● Grammar & Vocabulary: Advanced phrasal verbs, idioms, complex sentence formation.● Reading Comprehension: News reports, diary entries, advertisements. ● Interactive English: Writing formal letters, telephonic conversations, drafting messages.
